Sod / Grass / Lawn Installation

Having a real lawn can be a beautiful addition to your landscaping and create a cool, quite, clean area for enjoying with your family and friends. It feels great to walk barefoot in cool grass on a warm day and it offers a great recreation area for kids and adults. With any real lawn, you’ll have to consider irrigation, mowing, and maintenance like fertilizer and weeding. Consider options that are low-maintenance and help you enjoy the use of your yard. Rising Sun Landscaping & Maintenance suggests that you consider Park Blend or Fescue grass for our climate. Blue is softer, but takes more water and maintenance. It is also important to consider the type of edging you’ll have for your grass. This will make it easier to mow and maintain as well as give you more options for great aesthetics. Talk with Rising Sun about options. We make sure your ground is first prepared depending on the type of soil that is present and sod that will be installed, adding needed components and nutrients to the soil so your grass will thrive. This may include removing rocks or other debris, tilling the top four to six inches of sandy soil with additives, if needed. We usually prefer to roll the sod so the roots are pressed firmly into the soil. This helps avoid situations where the underlaying soil or sod is not smooth and air pockets exist between roots and soil. It helps create a smooth finished lawn and creates a more firm surface that won’t be disturbed by walking or running on the grass. Rolling is done in at least two perpendicular passes over the lawn
